Best bets for the horse racing this weekend

So far so crap this week with just three bets placed and all three losing; As I said recently it is often a funny time of year October as the Turf season comes to an end and the Jumps game begins to warm up. There are a few I want to back this weekend but sadly the Bookies are taking no chances!

Best bet for the horse racing at Saint-Cloud

Across the Channel Goldspur runs in the 1.33 1m2f Criterium de Saint-Cloud and should be backed. Buick makes the trip to ride, he is on some others through the weekend, but this son of Dubawi looks his best chance of a winner at 6-4.

Best bets for the horse racing at Newbury

First bet of the day for me in the UK goes in the Group Three 7f Virgin Bet Horris Hill Stakes at 2.00. Noble Truth is one I have talked of before and he proved himself a colt to keep an eye on with his second in the G.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp last time. He looks a solid bet here at 13-8.

It should be a quickfire double for Charlie Appleby and James Doyle as Siskany has to be backed, albeit at Evens, in the 1m4f 2.35 Virgin Bet St Simon Stakes. The three-year-old was an impressive winner in a competitive handicap at Newmarket last time and this slight step-up in class should be within his capabilities. especially with only 8-12 to carry under race conditions.

Royal Marine runs in the 4.50 but I can't back him again at the moment.

Best bets for the horse racing at Doncaster

The Group One Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes over a mile is the race of the day at 3.15.  In short Luxembourg is impossible to ignore following  his G.2 Beresford Stakes success at the Curragh but is priced accordingly. Evens is about and I have taken a bit of that. Royal Patronage looks the one most likely to trouble the jolly off the back of his Royal Lodge win which looks decent form now.
