Best bets for the horse racing Sunday 29th April

I had a couple of horses in mind for Sunday but annoyingly Rainbow Sky is long odds-on at Wetherby and unbackable. We do though have the first Group One of the European Flat Season at Longchamp where they host the 1m2½f Prix Ganay; they also have a couple of Group Three races on the card. The going across the Channel is soft to heavy.

Best bets for the horse racing at Longchamp

The Group one 1m2½f Prix Ganay is due off at 2.50 and I am involved with one that could have more to offer this season. Prix de l'Opera winner Place Du Carrousel takes on the colts but truth be told she was a surprise winner back in the autumn and I can’t see her taking this. Simca Mille won a G.2 here earlier this month so has the fitness edge on his rival but would need the top two in the betting to really underperform to take this in my opinion. Vadeni was very much at the top-table last year over middle-distances and should be in the shake-up, especially as old foe from last year Luxembourg has stayed at home in Ireland rather than coming over for this. He hasn’t always gone well fresh though. Bay Bridge was last seen winning the G.1 Qipco Champion Stakes so hasn’t been out for a while either but he has won fresh on more than one occasion so that appears of little concern for him. It would be no surprise if his trainer gets more out of him this year and he is the tentative pick at 7-4
