It’s another afternoon of racing from Meydan in Dubai this Thursday as the Carnival continues to wind its way to the big Dubai World Cup night at the end of March. There are just two more meetings after this, it’s Super Saturday the 7th March then the big one Saturday 28th.
The opener is an Arab G.1 but it’s a seven-race card for thoroughbreds, including a Group Three and a couple of Listed heats plus some tricky handicaps.
They start at 3.05 our time on the Turf track with the Listed 1m Meydan Classic Sponsored By Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City-District One. Well Of Wisdom for Appleby and Buick looks to have an outstanding chance here is you ignore his last run. I think the colt needed that outing and have happily taken 5-2 about him for this.
Next race of interest to me is the 1m6f Group Three Nad Al Sheba Trophy Sponsored By Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on the Turf track again. Spanish Mission is short getting some weight as he does and is feared but I am happy to take him on. Secret Advisor looked in fine fettle winning a C&D Listed handicap on his Carnival bow four weeks ago and should come on for that. Lightly raced for a 6yo I am on at 9-2 for the Buick, Appley double.
Last for me is the 6.00 the 1m2f District One Residence. It’s Buick and Appleby again as American Graffiti is the pick at 5-2. Won on seasonal debut over track and trip four weeks ago and looked to me to have plenty left in the tank meaning the 4lb rise looks lenient.
