Best bets for the horse racing Friday 29th October
First things first, full disclosure, I am on a horrid run at the moment with only Luxembourg at the weekend offering a little respite; so far this week I have had three bets finishing 2nd, 7th and 3rd. Faint heart never won fair lady though as I say so we battle on.
We are very much at the tail end of the Turf season and Newmarket hosts what they simply, and succinctly, name the Final Meeting on Friday and Saturday this week on the Rowley Mile. I have three to be backed on Friday.
Best bets for the horse racing at Newmarket
Any regular reader knows my Charlie Appleby debutant system at HQ, if Charlie sends one to make debut at Newmarket back it! Well, there are a couple we can have a go at on Friday. The first is Yantarni in the 12.45 7f British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes. The son of Dubawi comes here rather than a meeting a Kempton in a few days. Out of Villarrica the chestnut colt is a half-brother to four decent types including G.2 winner in France Vancouverite and Khawlah a decent filly that won the G.2 UAE Derby in 2011. He could easily be good enough to take this on racecourse debut and I am on at 3-1. Audience and Soulcombe are other nicely bred newcomers worth watching.
Straight after at 1.20 we have the other newcomer in the shape of Silent Speech in Div II of the 7f British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes. Another chestnut son of Dubawi this one is out of Epitome making him a full-brother to winner Quintillus (tipped on here when winning in August) and a half-brother to six other winners! It would be no surprise to me to see this one figure in the shake-up on debut and I have the 7-2. There are two obvious dangers in the shape of Filistine who was fancied by many earlier this month over track and trip finishing second plus the first-time out winner at Epsom Nuvolari, who has to give the field 3lb, but second and third from the race at Epsom have won since franking the form.
At 2.30 we have the Listed 6f Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Bosra Sham" Fillies' Stakes and there is a bit more form to go on here. None have more than Desert Dreamer who has been running well without winning in Pattern company for months having won her first two starts back in the spring – one over this track and trip. She has gone close more than once at higher level and the ease in grade gives he every chance. There can’t be many fillies that deserve a nice little prize like this more than her and she can get back in the Winners Enclosure here. I have the 3-1.
