Best bets for the horse racing Friday 28th May

And the run continues with a third and two seconds on Thursday from my three bets. Navello just not quite good enough, I was right to take on the short one in the Henry II Stakes stayers race only for Ranch Hand to finish second to a 14-1 shot and I simply cannot get that colt Sangarius right!

Its a bit of a leap of faith with my two bets for Friday as both are making debut and it is all about their breeding rather than any actual form.

Best bet for the horse racing at Yarmouth

My first bet runs in the 2.00 at Yarmouth the 7f British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes. Charlie Appleby had a couple entered here including third on debut at York Albahr but has left in just debutant New Science. The son of Lope De Vega comes here rather than Haydock this evening where he was also entered. Out of decent mare Alta Lilea (Galileo) it’s an attractive pedigree and the yard of course know how to get one ready for debut and have an impressive 25% strike-rate with two-year-olds. Get on at 7-5. Papa Cocktail is by Churchill, my sire to keep an eye on, and is one to take a look at. A relatively cheap foal and then yearling at the sales he is a half-brother to US G.3 winner Counterparty Risk and Tonkin a winner at two in Ireland. I don’t want to back him here but I will be watching to see how he goes.

Best bet for the horse racing at Haydock

It's into the evening for my second bet the race in question being the 6.45 at Haydock the 7f British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes. Encountered is another by Churchill but in this case, I think he is worth punting rather than just watching. A 160,000 Guinea's half-brother to two winners being out of Enrol, a fair handicapper in her day rated 100 at her peak, I think he might be perfect for this on debut his breeding being all about seven/eight furlongs. Hollie Doyle takes the ride for Marco Botti and all being well he can get his career off to a winning start. I have 7-1. Churchill hasn’t sired a winner yet from seven runners thus far but Madame Ambassador (tipped by me) and Golden War both went close finishing second.

Be lucky
