They go on the Fibresand at Southwell in the afternoon and on the Tapeta at Newcastle for the evening meeting on Friday. I am having a go with a couple at the Nottinghamshire track the aim being to nick some beer money for Friday night.
First up My Lord And Master is interesting trying the All-Weather for the first time in the Betway Ebf Buccaneer conditions Stakes at 1.00. He was in with much better opposition than this in the spring and though disappointing last time at Doncaster has to be on the short list for this. Grab 5-2. Busy Street and Victoria Drummond are potential dangers though Busy Street does have a habit of managing to get beat.
They face six furlongs for the Play 4toscore At Betway Handicap at 1.30. First Excel has three track and trip wins to his name and the chestnut gelding put in a good effort when third at Newcastle last time against slightly better opposition. Robert Winston was booked to ride nice and early and I expect a big run from the six-year-old. 7-4 was about early doors.
Sam Spinner who was my punt for the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham last year, finished fifth, goes in the G.2 Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury. He faces Wholestone who finished ahead of him at the Festival and Aintree last backend and both are best watched for now as tempted as I was to back Sam.
