Best bets for the horse racing at Newmarket Friday 10th August

I know there is a bunch of lads and lasses on a 50th birthday bash over at Newmarket on the July course this Friday evening and I would advise anyone going to get to the bar before this motley crew as this little gathering could drink a brewery dry!

It’s a tricky card with three two-year-old heats and three difficult handicaps to try and work out. One I wanted to back will not run but if the boys and girls are looking to add to the whip money, and no doubt they will be, there are two to get involved with.

The old satchel swingers priced up early and I grabbed some prices overnight best price guaranteed.

First up you could do worse than have a couple of quid on Assembly Of Truth. Charlie Appleby will be saddling the Godolphin 2yo for the first at 5.25 the Fly London Southend Airport To Perpignan Fillies' Novice Stakes. Third to subsequent Group 2 winner Pretty Pollyanna on debut at Yarmouth she didn’t quite get home over seven furlongs on her second run here at HQ and the drop back to six is very much in her favour. I have the 15-8. King's Girl is an interesting newcomer and could be the danger.

It’s another Godolphin filly trained by Appleby in the shape of Fountain Of Time for the Fly London Southend Airport To Budapest British EBF Fillies' Handicap at 7.40. A couple of the dangers on the card will almost certainly not run having raced at Yarmouth yesterday and this daughter of Iffraaj won her first 2 starts earlier this year before losing her unbeaten status when runner-up on handicap debut at Chelmsford last time; only beaten a neck. She should improve again and is fancied on her first run on turf at 2-1.

Neither will get you rich quick but they should at least pay for a Drambuie or two.

Be lucky
