Best bets for the horse racing at Lingfield Park on Saturday 14th November

The Jumps game is of course well underway now and Cheltenham hosts day two of its three-day November meeting.  No bets for me there at the time of writing, sorry Jumps fans, but I am having two bets on the All-Weather Saturday afternoon and they are on nice and early!

Down at Lingfield Park we have two of the first big races of the All-Weather Championship season in the shape of the Listed Churchill Stakes and Golden Rose Stakes – both All Weather Championships Fast-Track Qualifier races; both will be on Sky Racing and the ITV coverage.

They line-up for the Listed Churchill Stakes over 1m2f at 3.05. This is the twentieth edition believe it or not and it has been won by some decent types down the years, most notably perhaps Hunters Light back in 2011 the colt going on to win Group One’s around the globe. I am not convinced there is a future G.1 winner in the line-up but you cannot ignore the chance of last year's G.3 Betway Winter Derby Stakes winner Dubai Warrior. He won the Listed Quebec Stakes prior to winning the big one last year and looks set to book his place for Finals Day early for Good Friday 2021 by taking this. He may have a little improvement yet to come as a lightly raced four-year-old and he loves this track and trip. He will be odds-on it would appear, as of Thursday midday 4-7 is the general price but he looks a pretty sure thing.

The Listed Golden Rose Stakes at 3.40 is over 6f and looks a fairly open affair. Good Effort is fast becoming a bit of an All-Weather specialist and arrives with four 1’s next to his name having won at Deauville, Newcastle and then two races here at Lingfield, one over track and trip. The C&D win was in the Listed Cleves Stakes last February and he showed his well-being after a summer break winning over five furlongs here last week off top-weight in a little handicap. On paper needs to improve again to win here but under the race conditions he gets 5lb from main danger Judicial which will make a big difference in a race such as this. I have the 4-1 Paddy Power have gone on Thursday lunchtime.

if I do have a go at Cheltenham at the weekend the bets will naturally be up on the site as and when placed so do check back.

Be lucky
