Best bets for the horse racing around the world Sunday 9th July

I tipped three winners in three countries out of my five tips yesterday and nicked a few quid, thanks in no small part to Aspen Grove out in New York. Hopefully I have a couple of winners for Sunday, again in different countries, and a few more pennies can be added to the betting bank.

Best bet for the horse racing at Deauville Sunday

Race of the day Sunday is the 7f Group One Haras d'Etreham Prix Jean Prat at 2.50. Oisin Murphy jets in, having been in New York on Saturday to ride ride a winner for me in the shape of Aspen Grove, to get the leg-up aboard 2,000 Guineas winner Chaldean in the absence of the suspended Frankie Dettori. Barry Mahon, racing manager for Juddmonte said on Tuesday: “Once Frankie was unavailable it was a relatively straightforward decision about who was going to ride. Oisin is Andrew [Balding's] first jockey and he’s a top-class rider, so we’re lucky to have him on board. Oisin knows the horse and has ridden him at home before, both last year and this year.” Despite being on of my Dirty Dozen list for the season the colt has proved a loser for me thus far; I was on when he unseated Dettori in the Greenham, went against him in the Guineas when I was on another DD member Silver Knott, ran at Belmont last night, and then backed the colt again when he was run down in the closing stages by Paddington in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot! I am back on today at Evens and hopefully I've got the colt right this time.

Best bet for the horse racing at Chelmsford City Sunday

Much closer to home at Chelmsford City we have the Listed 7f Louis Roederer Queen Charlotte Fillies' Stakes at 3.55. White Moonlight runs for Saeed bin Suroor and is of interest. The six-year-old filly was actually one of my Dirty Dozen in 2020 following a promising two-year-old campaign in 2019; she didn’t run once all year and in fact didn’t return to the track until 2022! It is interesting that Godolphin have kept her in training despite numerous setbacks but she was back to winning ways last time in the Listed Edinburgh Gin Queen Of Scots Fillies' Stakes at Musselburgh having been running at Group level her three starts prior to that. I honestly thought she might be an Oaks contender in 2020 and certainly didn’t think at the time I would ever be backing her on a Sunday afternoon at Chelmsford City but that is what I am doing. I am on at 5-1.

Be lucky
