Best bets for the Dubai Carnival Meydan Thursday 25th January 2018 and Chelmsford City

From Dubai to Essex for Triple G on Thursday as it is the latest meeting at Meydan for the Dubai World Cup Carnival plus there is a bet to be had at Chelmsford City, a lot nearer home, in the evening. The early prices are up and as William Hill look to have made a ricket on one I am on early.

First for Dubai and at 4.15 our time they have the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial Sponsored By Emirates Global Aluminium (Div 1) Conditions Stakes over seven furlongs. I seem to be talking more and more of Charlie Appleby inmates and today is going to be no different. Gold Town improved with every run at two culminating in a Nursery win at Newmarket off 91 when last seen in August. He front run that day which I would like to see again as he has the three stall which would suit those tactics perfectly here; He is odds-on at 1-2 but looks the solid option.

At 4.50 they go over the Mile for the Cape Verdi Sponsored By Emirates Global Aluminium Group 2 Stakes. The five-year-old Godolphin mare Promising Run has a couple of wins at this level to her name, including when she beat Light The Lights on her first start here last year in the G.2 Al Rashidiya over 1m1f. The Saeed bin Suroor yard had a couple of winners last week and I have taken a chance on her winning this at the standout 5-2 with William Hill overnight -15-8 elsewhere so get on quick. Absolute Blast has been running here, there and everywhere and is feared if at her very best.

At 5.25 it is the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial Sponsored By Emirates Global Aluminium (Div 2) Conditions Stakes. The Richard Hannon trained Tangled is the pick on known form having won at York before putting in two placed efforts in Group Three company over this distance last back end. That said Saeed bin Suroor saddles Moqarrab who has a dirt pedigree and was very impressive when winning at the second time of asking in a 7f maiden at Wolverhampton last month. The second and third have franked the form somewhat of that race and I would expect the Godolphin colt to prove better than Tangled with improvement expected here. You can get 11-8 and I would advise snaffling that up.

I have talked of Godolphin a lot already and the trend continues as they had a number potentially making the trip to Essex and Chelmsford City for the evening meeting but just the one colt will be travelling. That colt is Tabernas from the Charlie Appleby yard and he goes in the 1m2f Bet totejackpot At betfred.com Novice Stakes at 6.30. The chestnut has improved with each of his three runs to date and has been in with some half decent types already, his debut back in September at Kempton was in a Novice Stakes won by Roaring Lion. He was a good second at Newcastle earlier this month over the 1m2f there to stablemate Flag Festival on his first run at three. Adam Kirby rides this evening and the cheekpieces are on to help him concentrate. He is short but I would advise you get on at 9-4.

So there it is, a Godolphin Yankee if you wish.

Be lucky
