Best bets for day two of the July Meeting at Newmarket

Day two of the July Meeting at HQ Newmarket on Friday and there’s plenty to have a go at again should you choose. I am having just the two bets and I am going-up early as I think that might shorten overnight.

The Group Two Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at 2.25 sees some nice two-year-old fillies lining-up to face six furlongs. Dandalla was a very impressive winner of the G.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot over the trip. It was soft underfoot that day so the rain we have had is of little concern for her. She sets the standard as they say, and I have backed her at 7-4 to make it three wins from three starts. More Beautiful was beaten at short odds in the G.2 Queen Mary and could prove the danger if bouncing back from that poor effort.

The Group One Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes over the mile is the main event due off at 4.10. Terebellum is bidding to break her G.1 duck having lost little in defeat to Circus Maximus at Royal Ascot. I didn’t back her that day, was on the winner, and backed against her when she won the G.2 Dahlia Fillies' Stakes before that. She has won on soft out in France so I am not too concerned about the going and it should peter out overnight. This looks her best chance yet of snaffling a Group One, if those recent excretions haven’t taken their toll. 5-4 is hardly generous but that’s the best price.

Be lucky
