Best bets for day three of the Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket Saturday 26th September

It’s the big day of the meeting at Newmarket with two Group One races. Both run over a distance of six furlongs The Cheveley Park Stakes is for the two-year old fillies and the Middle Park Stakes see the young colts lining-up. I am having two bets on the day, as it happens in the two big races.

The two-year-old fillies go at 2.25 in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes. Tricky little heat this but I have a feeling Miss Amulet is the answer to the puzzle. Last seen winning the G.2 Lowther at York from the re-opposing Sacred and Umm Kulthum last month she looked decent that day. Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle of the grey trained by Ken Condon and she is bigger than I expected at 5-2.  The aforementioned Sacred can follow her home again.

At 3.00 we have the Group One Middle Park Stakes. Lucky Vega won the G.1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh which is arguably the best form on offer here. He then had no luck at all in the G.1 National Stakes back there last time finding all sorts of trouble. A little give in the ground holds no fears and I think he can get back to winning ways in this. I have the 11-4. Method is feared in that he is the potential improver of the field.

Be lucky
