Best bet for the horseracing in the UK this weekend

I am not getting overly involved here in the UK on Saturday as my concentration is mainly on the Breeders Cup but there is one I will back. Dubai Melody makes debut for the team at Moulton Paddocks in the 11.20, the 7f Betfred TV British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes, at Newmarket and has to be backed. By the yards Derby winner Masar out of the winning mare Kazziana, a daughter of Shamardal, this filly may be one for next year over further but I back Appleby debutants at HQ so I will back her when they chalk up in the morning. Plenty of those on her pedigree page were winners at two, including on debut, so although she may want further in time I think a big run can be expected.

Bravemansgame will start his 2024 campaign once again in the three-mile Grade Two bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby; he of course won the race last year. After his victory in this he went on to win the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day before finishing a gallant second in the Gold Cup and third in the Punchestown Gold Cup. His initial intended first target of the season was the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 25th but the unsettled weather has reportedly led to Paul Nicholls deciding to run last year’s winner again here as his first start of the season. It now looks as though Paul Nichols will be plotting a similar campaign this year to last and I expect the eight-year-old to take this before moving on to Kempton and the King George - for which he is already 7-4 favourite! He is odds-on and unbackable in this.
