Best bet for the horse racing Wednesday 31st August

It’s an afternoon of All-Weather action with cards at Southwell, Lingfield and Wolverhampton on Wednesday – they do race on Turf up at Hamilton in the evening.

Best bet for the horse racing Wolverhampton

The race of interest to me is the 6f British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at 2.10. Appointed One is the first foal out of Endless Charm, a 6f A/W winner in her day and by Exceed and Excel that top-class sprinter and champion sire in Australia. The chestnut colt finished promising second at Chelmsford on debut in July finishing behind one that has racecourse experience on its side. This looks a pretty strong maiden but with Charlie Appleby and William Buick in such form and this one expected to come on quite a bit for his first outing the colt looks a decent bet to me at 9-4 overnight. Desert games was a £210,000 yearling so is worth a watch on debut whilst Colnago reportedly fetched a six-figure sum at the Breeze-Ups and was a promising debut third at Pontefract so is also worth keeping an eye on.
