Best bet for the horse racing Wednesday 24th August 2022

I had Sense Of Power pencilled in for a bet this evening at Kempton Park in the 7f Unibet Support Safe Gambling Novice Stakes to defy a 7lb penalty but annoyingly the colt will be odds-on and in unbackable at the price. I tipped him when he won at Newmarket in July on his belated three-year-old debut saying at the time  he is by Invincible Spirit and out of Boldarra, an unraced half-sister to US 1m1f turf G.2 winner Sarach and US 1m turf G.3 winner All Included, so the firm going should be fine and I think he might prove useful. He is one for the notebook as a gelding that should be running next season as well.

Best bet for the horse racing at Musselburgh

Luckily the other horse I had in mind for today is backable. I am having a speculative punt up at Musselburgh in the 7f British Stallion Studs EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes at 1.50. Harry's Hero couldn't live with the odds-on Juddmonte homebred Bresson on his debut earlier this month over six at Yarmouth but it wasn't a bad effort and he was far from knocked about when it was clear his chance was gone. Step-up in trip should suit and the fact that Alice Haynes sends him all the way up to Scotland from HQ suggests they fancy their chances; only had one runner at the track before and that was a winner! The yard is on pretty good form and the chestnut colt is worth an investment at 8-1.
