Best bet for the horse racing Wednesday 18th July 2018

There is quite a bit going on midweek with five meetings across the UK. There is one out that I think it should pay to be backing on Wednesday, somewhat ironically bearing in mind the summer we are having, on the all-weather.

William Haggas has a debutant at Lingfield in the six-furlong 188Bet 7 Places On The Open/EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes at 2.10 that caught my eye going through the cards Tuesday. Seductive is a filly by War Command out of High Figurine (High Chaparral) so is bred to be decent. She is in the ownership of Donald Scott who bought the dam from France and sent her to Haggas; she won a handicap at Epsom back in 2011. This filly is a half-sister to a couple of winners, both of whom won as 2yo’s, and both for their owner-breeder Donald Scott whilst trained by Haggas as well so it’s fair to say connections know the family! The stable is in fair form, they have more winners here than anywhere, and the 2yo’s have been going well this season – 23% strike-rate. At 100-30 she is worth a punt to make a winning debut. Thoughtfully is the danger on what little form there is on offer but stall nine has not helped her cause.

I was thinking of backing Arabian Coast for the six-furlong myracing.com Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton this evening but he was odds-on and is now a non-runner anyway.

Be lucky
