Best bet for the horse racing at Southwell

It’s a competitive looking card on the Fibresand at Southwell on Tuesday evening but there is a bet to be had. Nick Vedder and Beach Break are both short in the last two races and though have obvious chances aren't ones to trust and I won't be lumping on either at Evens. There's not a lot of form to go on for the 5.10 1m4f Betway Novice Stakes but one stands out to my eye; unfortunately everyone else's as wells it appears, Alpha Theta. She won on her belated debut as a three-year-old over track and trip last month and clearly went into many notebooks. She may not of beat much but boy did she do it nicely going clear in the fog and bearing in mind she is likely to improve for the experience she is strongly fancied to make it two from two. A couple came out of the field on Monday which did the price some damage and annoyingly she's odds-on so I won't be backing her. 120,000 guineas yearling unraced four-year-old Soros is an interesting newcomer but has clearly had issues coming to the track so late and is best watched.

The race you can have a bet in is the 6.40 6f Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Handicap. Marve is another last time C&D winner and the chestnut is fancied to follow-up with the second from the race he won having franked the form winning a novice stakes recently.  He made all when winning, which was only his third start so you would expect improvement, and though the draw might have been kinder a mark of 71 for handicap debut doesn’t look too harsh to me. Grab a bit of the carpet 3-1.

Be lucky
