Best bet for the horse racing Tuesday 17th October 2023

There is a horse running today that to say I have been waiting for is an understatement; he hasn't been seen on track since January 2021, a total of 999 days off!

Best bet for the horseracing at Newcastle

Military March was a member of my Dirty Dozen as a three-year-old following his two wins as a two-year-old including the G.3 Autumn Stakes; I wrote at the time ' By Derby winner New Approach out of Punctilious a multiple middle-distance Group winner for Saeed bin Suroor back in the day this Colt is bred for the middle-distance game'. He was also on the Dirty Dozen list as a four-year-old. He ran just once at three when fourth in the 2,000 Guineas. His four-year-old campaign was sadly also limited to just one run when eighth in the G.2  Singspiel Stakes in Meydan back in 2021; he was gelded in early 2022. He of course has top-weight here still being rated 107 but it is fascinating that Godolphin and Saeed bin Suroor have kept him in training at six after so few runs and such a long time off the track; they must think they can pick up some prizes with him. He runs in the 1m4f BetUK It's Where The UK Bets Handicap at 4.55 on the Tapeta in Geordieland and I assume he is being primed for the Carnival in Dubai. If he stays the trip, and on breeding there's a very good chance he will, anywhere near his best form and he should win hard held despite the big weight to shoulder. I have had a punt at the carpet 3-1 this morning.

Be lucky
