Best bet for the horse racing Thursday at Pontefract

I said it would be a quiet start to the week, sorry if you are a bet a day type but I won’t punt just for the sake of it. Good news, I am finally having a punt on Thursday at Pontefract.

They face a mile in the Listed Sky Bet Pomfret Stakes and one from the notebook runs. Dark Vision went into the notebook originally some time ago now my notes reading Won G.2 Vintage Stks @ Goodwood impressively (tipped @ 5-1) and bought by Godolphin after. Winless throughout he’s three-year-old campaign he did put in several respectable efforts in competitive big-field handicaps. He returned to the track as a four-year-old with a short-head defeat at Newcastle before he got his well-deserved big handicap win in the Royal Hunt Cup last month with Montatham in second. He was short-headed into second again after that at Sandown in a handicap last time by Montatham, giving the winner 6lb.

This looks a great opportunity for the four-year-old and the fact it is a fairly stiff mile here, uphill finish, is seen as a positive as it’s similar in that regard to tracks he has gone well on in the past such as the aforementioned Ascot and Sandown. Get on at 11-10 with Hills.

Be lucky
