Best bet for the horse racing Thursday 31st August

A very quiet week thus far with not a bet placed since Saturday but I do have one I like the look of on Thursday out in France.

Best bet for the horse racing at Longchamp

William Haggas is having a pretty good season and doing very nicely with his two-year-olds; sadly not so much with the one I have a few shares in Treasure Time; he's been gelded and is back in training proper again now. Anyhow, Rare Jewel is clearly one they like and she has been sent across the Channel to run in the 5f Group Three Prix d'Arenberg at Longchamp on Thursday, due off at 1.58. She won with what appeared plenty in hand last time at Beverley over the five-furlong strip there having been asked quite a question on debut running in the Listed Maureen Brittain Memorial Empress Fillies' Stakes at the start of July. In that race she was behind a number that have gone to to compete at Group level so she looks worth a try at this and the fact the team from Somerville Lodge have set her over suggests she is liked by them and Tom Marquand travelling to ride, also rides Royal Charter for his boss later on the card, is also seen as a positive. I have taken the 8-1 that's about Wednesday evening as I think that's quite big. The only colt in the line-up Zorken I thought would be the jolly coming back down in trip, he isn't early, and is feared but I am hopeful the selection can improve passed him.

Be lucky
