Quite frankly I am glad to see the back of March after a very tough Cheltenham and nightmare Dubai World Cup meeting, in short a bit of a shit month end of story! It’s a new month and new hope as l have one for Thursday which all being well won’t leave me looking an April fool.
Best bet for the horse racing at Chelmsford City
I have tipped up Quintillus on both his starts to date, on debut over 7f when fourth at Newmarket back in September and then over the same trip when he opened his account at Kempton on the All-Weather in October. As mentioned before he is a Dubawi half-brother to several winners being by Epitome and I think is one to keep on side as a three-year-old. He had two entries this week, both over a mile, the first at Chelmsford on Thursday and one in a Listed heat at Newcastle on Friday; Also entered at Kempton next week. He runs at Chelmsford City on Thursday in the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes (The Road To The Kentucky Derby) at 5.50. It’s not a bad race, though I doubt any of these will be at the Kentucky Derby come 1st May, but you never know - interestingly same day as the 2,000 Guineas. Qaader is top rated off the back of some good performances in Group company last year but he is clearly vulnerable to an improver which it is hoped the selection is. Course winner and one with a Guineas entry Fundamental is perhaps feared most though the form of the race he won in October is hardly red hot. James Doyle is booked to ride the selection and at 3-1 overnight I am on – who knows Quintillus might just book a trip across the pond...................
