Best bet for the horse racing Thursday 17th August
I had a nice winner in the shape of Arabian Crown at Salisbury on Wednesday afternoon and I am sticking to the Wiltshire track on Thursday.
Best bet for the horse racing at Salisbury
It's Summer Holiday Racing and Tattersalls Sovereign Stakes Day at Salisbury on Thursday; arguably their best day of the year. The race I am interested in is the Group Three Tattersalls Sovereign Stakes over the mile at 4.10. Progressive three-year-old Embesto clearly has the most potential for improvement after just the three starts and gets 6lb and more at the weights from his older rivals. Having won at Yarmouth on debut over a mile he followed up by taking a Novice Stakes at Doncaster. Second when last seen in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at HQ that still looks a fairly solid piece of form despite the winner that day, Nostrum, getting turned over in the G.3 Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood since (the soft ground probably the issue). 2-1 is about overnight and I have taken that as I think this one will go off shorter. Regal Reality has a couple of wins at this level but due to that has to give them all weight. Of the older horses Mighty Ulysses is feared most but, for me, hasn't really gone on to the level you may have expected of him. Cheekpieces are on for the four-year-old first time.Be lucky
