Best bet for the horse racing this weekend

Following a big afternoon last weekend with Super Saturday in Dubai and the Cheltenham Festival now so close I am counting down the minutes rather than the days hopefully you will forgive me for not getting overly involved this weekend.

There is through a bet to be had.

Best bet for the horse racing at Wolverhampton

A little side note to the weekends action; Misty Grey's appearance in the ITV4-televised Listed MansionBet Lady Wulfruna Stakes at Wolverhampton due off at 2.40 over 7f will signal the end of Tom Dascombe's role at Manor House. Hugo Palmer will take over as the trainer at Manor House during Cheltenham week. The five-year-old is jolly but I think there is one to spoil the party. Happy Power has been in with some good ones in his career and was far from disgraced in the G.3 1351 Cup Turf Sprint out at Riydah last time when sixth. The grey makes his debut on the All-Weather here and though he didn’t win a race in 2021 he was in contests a fair bit warmer than this. I have snaffled a bit of the 5-1 overnight as I think that is too big.

I put up King Of Time at 2-1 last month when Charlie Appleby sent the three-year-old colt to Lingfield to make his debut and he duly won. He is due to run over the same track and trip again in the 1m Play Coral Racing-Super-Series For Free Novice Stakes at 2.21 on Saturday. As I said before he is by Kingman out of the mare Lombatina and as such he is a half-brother to four winners the best being the filly Agrotera who won some nice prizes in her time. Breeding suggests he should have been a decent two-year-old, sire and dam were both winners at two as were grandsires Invincible Spirit and Kings Best, so it was perhaps surprising he didn’t make debut until the age of three but he duly won, I would say a shade cosily, and is strongly fancied to go in again. Sadly, the Bookies are only too aware and he is 1-2 overnight and unbackable. All-Weather Finals Day for the Mile might be a target as he would only require three runs to qualify, as long as rated highly enough to make the cut.

Be lucky
