Best bet for the horse racing Friday 5th April 2024

I have had a few quiet days following a cracking Easter Bank Holiday with a nice winning day at the All-Weather finals at Newcastle on Good Friday followed by an even better day at the Dubai World Cup meeting nicking a nice few quid over the 48 hours or so.

We are in a bit of a lull as far as top-class action is concerned with the Aintree Grand National meeting next week followed by a number of the big early-season Flat meetings as April progresses. That said, there are some interesting races coming up over the coming days.

Best bet for the horse racing at Keeneland

Charlie Appleby has sent Musical Act from Dubai where the three-year-old has run twice this year out to Keeneland to run in the 1m½f Grade Three Transylvania Stakes Presented By Keeneland Select at the Turf at 9.44 our time. A winner of a couple of Novice races at Kempton late in 2023 his effort in the Listed 1m1f Jumeirah Classic last time was more than fair when second to odds-on stablemate Legend of Time all things considered. Frankie Dettori gets the leg-up and the three-year-old grey is worth a punt in the grade in the States. I will search around for the best price as and when the Bookies go up. Charlie Appleby said “Musical Act shipped in well with the rest of our team for Keeneland last Friday, although the weather out there has been quite unsettled and we haven’t managed to get him out on the grass. We feel cutting back half a furlong is going to suit and hopefully he can be competitive at this level.”

Be lucky
