Best bet for the horse racing Friday 31st December

As 2021 draws to a close we do have a bit of action to enjoy before the New Year's Eve celebrations kick-in and a glass or two gets sunk. They have a fair little card at Lingfield on the Polytrack and that is where I am concentrating.

Best bet for the horse racing at Lingfield

The mile MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Handicap at 1.15 is the race of the day and is a decent race. Fox Duty Free hit a rich vein of form this time last year and qualified for the All-Weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes at All-Weather Finals Day Easter this year. I backed him each-way and he was ultimately a little disappointing in that race finishing eighth never getting into it. In fact, he was a little disappointing all summer on Turf but appeared to be happy to be back on synthetic surfaces at Wolverhampton last time when third. A mark of 92 gives him a big chance in this and his three career wins have all come here on the Polytrack, including this race in 2020. Perfectly drawn to get a lead and pick them off down the straight I am on at 15-8.

At 2.55 we have the 6f Read Katie Walsh On Betway Insider Handicap in which, on paper, a few have a chance but there is one I really quite fancy. Come On Girl has a cracking track and trip record, two wins and two places, plus she’s gone well here over seven furlongs in the past. Her recent second at Chelmsford City looks pretty decent form, the front two clear of the rest, and with Winnetka drawn just on her inside she should get a lovely lead into the race from that gelding. Off a mark of 62 I think she can swoop late and take this and I have the 9-5.

Be lucky
