Best bet for the horse racing Friday 25th August 2023

It was another disappointing day for me on the Knavesmire yesterday with two losing bets. It's been a frustrating month and I am on a run of five placed finished in my last six bets just to rub more salt in the wounds! I have a couple of fancies on Friday spread one at Goodwood and one at HQ.

Best bets for the York Ebor Festival day three

Dirty Dozen member this year Dramatised goes in the Group One 5f Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes at 3.35, the race of the day. She kicked off her season in style winning the G.2 Temple Stakes at Haydock in May looking in fine fettle. Next up she was down the field in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot but having been drawn in the high numbers she ended up in a small group on the near side where none of them really got involved so can be forgiven that run; it would not surprise me to see her a lot closer here. At 14-1 (4-places) she can be backed each-way and I am on.

Best bet for the horse racing at Newmarket

Charlie Appleby sends Dream Whisper down the road to the July Course to make debut in the 7f Jenningsbet Fillies' Novice Stakes. As a two-year-old making debut at HQ for the team at Moulton Paddocks I have to be on; the last couple have been beaten but have ran well and the fact remains there better juveniles make debut here time and time again. A daughter of top-class sprinter Exceed And Excel she is the first foal to run out of Chapelli, who won as a two-year-old herself, and from a family that has produced a number of very good racehorses. 7-5 is short enough but I am on.

Be lucky
