I am very happy to see the back of August, the worst month on record for Triple G; I couldn't catch a break all week from Glorious Goodwood onwards. Anyway into September we go and I think I have one to kick the month off with a winner.
Best bet for the horse racing at ThirskCharlie Appleby doesn't send many up to Thirsk on the 190 odd mile trip from his stables at Moulton Paddocks in Newmarket and he has a 29% strike-rate when he does. With this in mind the fact he sends Cinderella's Dream for the 7f Vision PVC Carlton Miniott - Thirsk - EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes at 2.50, his sole runner of the day, on the trip up north with William Buick joining her on the day out looks significant. A winner on debut at Lingfield in May she hails from a family that has produced plenty of winners down the generations and looked like a decent type when winning in Surrey back in the spring. She has a penalty to carry here but that shouldn't prove too difficult and I have taken a chance overnight at 13-8. The other once raced winning filly in the line-up Shin Jidai looks the obvious danger for Roger Varian.
