Best bet for the horse racing day three the Craven Meeting Newmarket

Two winners from four bets on Wednesday makes it five from seven thus far at the Craven Meeting – I have been a fully paid-up member of the Charlie Appleby appreciation society this week thus far but they are winning!

I didn’t back Native Trail at the price but was very happy with his run and I am looking forward to the 2,000 Guineas with a 9-2 ticket about the colt in my pocket.

A quieter day on Thursday at HQ with just the one Listed heat mixed in with handicaps and maidens on the racecard, it is through an important Listed heat as far as I am concerned. I am not getting overly involved Thursday but I will be betting in that Listed heat as my Derby each-way punt runs.

At 3.35 they face 1m1f for the Listed bet365 Feilden Stakes and my ante-post each-way punt for the Derby Sonny Liston will run. An impressive winner over 7f at Sandown on his only start at two I am on at 33-1 for Epsom and naturally fingers are crossed for a big run in this. If he is to go on to Epsom, he needs to be beating the likes of Masekela and Cresta. He has an entry in the Dante Stakes next month before the big race in June. The yard has had three winners this month so is in fair form. I was surprised to see the colt at 4-1 overnight as I think that is quite big for, hopefully,  a future Derby winner and I have taken a bit of that. Masekela has the best form in the book, second to Native Trail over on the July Course in G.2 Superlative Stakes and is the danger.
