Best bet for the horse racing at Yarmouth Wednesday 23rd May
It has been a quiet start to the week down at Triple G Towers with nothing taking my fancy. It is the beginning of a few busy days now though as there is a bet to be had today, a cracking evening card at Sandown on Thursday and the big meeting at the Curragh with the Irish Guineas to get involved with at the weekend.
As for the best on Wednesday Charlie Appleby sends interesting newcomer Leading Spirit for the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes over six furlongs at Yarmouth, due off at 2.30.
Sire Exceed And Excel was a top-class Australian sprinter who has proved to be a prolific source of precocious smart 2yos. He is the first foal of Inspiriter who was a decent sprinter herself for Godolphin first for Saeed bin Suroor, then Appleby and finally Pantall out in France where she won a Listed heat on her final start at Fontainebleau. The female line is also all about speed. He was also entered at Goodwood and Haydock this week so the fact he comes here looks significant and as the colt should be quick the flat straight six here should suit lovely. I have 2-1 BPG overnight; Bet365 are 5-2 but I can get about £2 on with them!
Legends Of War from the John Gosden yard topped the Craven Breeze-up Sale going for around 900,000 Guineas so the Scat Daddy colt is naturally one worth watching but hopefully he isn’t as quick as the selection.
Be lucky
