Best bet for the horse racing at Southwell Thursday 12th April 2018

A quiet week thus far on the punting front but I am having a go today though the price is proper skinny.

Saeed bin Suroor sends four-year-old chestnut filly Victory Wave for the mile Toteexacta Maiden Stakes at Southwell due off at 2.30. As a trainer he has very few runners at this track so it caught my eye, she was also entered for Kempton and Wolverhampton this week but comes here, and as I delved further into her details she intrigued me more and more. By Distorted Humor a high-class 7-8f US dirt colt out of Angel Craft the filly is bred to handle this surface and it is interesting team Godolphin have kept her in training at four having not set foot on a racetrack. They are an inexperienced lot lining-up and if she is even remotely decent she should be able to make a winning racecourse debut. She was very briefly 9-4 with Bet365 on Wednesday afternoon but I can get about £2.50 on with them and the price had contracted to slightly odds-on by early evening anyway. 5-6 is the best about which I have begrudgingly taken this morning.

Be lucky
