A quiet week for me thus far with just the one bet, not that Zaaki was worth waiting for on Wednesday, the five-year-old is going backwards! Anyhow, I do fancy one on Friday and hopefully this one will put in a better effort than the Stoute trained beast.
The Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes over 7f due off at 4.15 is the race of the day, at least as far as I am concerned, with a few in with chances if putting their best hoof forward. Final Song has a chance under the race conditions with only 8-8 to carry but she hasn’t really progressed as would have no doubt been hoped. Glorious Journey won the G.2 Al Fahidi Fort in Meydan earlier in the year but hasn’t shown that sort of form of late whilst Jovial was well held in the G.3 Summer Fillies' Stakes and is another that perhaps flattered to deceive. D’Bai is one I have talked of and backed several times and though the six-year-old gelding trained for Godolphin by Charlie Appleby has to shoulder 9-2 he is by far the most consistent in this line-up. Far from disgraced in the G.2 Lennox and then the G.3 Supreme Stakes the last twice this looks a good chance for him to get back to winning ways. I have the carpet 3-1 very early with William Hill as I think they have over priced him!
