A couple of cheeky bets out in the old colony at lunchtime for Triple G today as we build to a big few days horse racing here and in France later this week.
They start at 12.15 our time in Hong Kong at Happy Valley with the Begonia Handicap. The Legend has put in two decent efforts at Sha Tin and now gets the assistance of ‘the legend’ that is the magic man Joao Moreira for his Happy Valley debut. He encountered some trouble on both starts at Sha Tin watching the videos but drawn in three today the magic man should be able to slipstream the earlier leaders and hopefully pick them off late; the slight drop in the ratings to a figure of 48 hasn’t hurt the four-year-olds chances either. Grab the 3-1 if you can.
Race two at 12.45 is the Cassia Handicap and that man Joao Moreira has the chance of a quick double to my eye. Show Mission hasn’t been seen for six months, fourth behind Giddy Giddy (winner tipped on here at 6-1) and there was no disgrace in that as the winner went like a scolded cat that day. The five-year-old has the plum draw in two to track the early pace and should be able to take this if fully wound up after the break. 4-1 is about in places.
