Best bet for the horse racing at Chelmsford City Tuesday 24th July

There isn’t a race on turf today in the UK with more than nine runners lining-up as the heat wave takes its toll; it will surprise no-one that the going everywhere if good-firm!

They go on the all-weather at Chelmsford City and Newcastle where they do have some more competitive heats. I fancy one at the Essex track where it should be a lovely evening later to watch a bit of racing. It’s been so hot and sunny lately the plethora of fake tan suppliers are going skint!

It’s a late one the 8.10 Hills Prospect Simply The Best Novice Stakes over a mile on the Polytrack. Saeed bin Suroor sends Piece Of History who got his racing career off to a winning start on debut at Leicester over a mile last month. He is a half-brother to winners Hornsby & Emirates Airline and should prove better than the opposition here and to my eyes looks more than capable of defying the penalty. The draw could have been kinder but all being well David Egan can pop him out and get a decent position, the mile course here does give him a chance of doing so. Ear’ole 6-4 is as good a price as you can get and I have that.

Be lucky
