Best bet for the horse racing at Brighton Tuesday 2nd July

Saeed bin Suroor has a strike-rate of just over 34% at Brighton so it caught my eye when I noticed that the only Godolphin runner in the UK on Tuesday was Meqdam in the 1m2f Janes Solicitors No Win No Fee Maiden Stakes due off at 3.00 down on the south coast. The three-year-old chestnut colt has run twice, both over a mile, when fourth at Newmarket and sixth at Nottingham (beaten odds-on jolly). The form figures don’t jump off the page at you but eight subsequent winners have come from those two races suggesting the form of both is fair. He should appreciate a step-up in trip on breeding and cheekpieces are on for the first time to help concentrate. At 5-1 he is the speculative punt in what I think is an open affair for a four-runner heat despite Clarion being a short-priced favourite.
