Best bet for the Betfair Denman Chase Saturday 12th February

One of my all-time favourite Chasers Clan Des Obeaux is out in the Grade Two 2m7½f Betfair Denman Chase at Newbury on Saturday due off 2.25. I backed him again on Boxing Day in the King George VI Chase when he finished second. The plan was to go there fresh this year and that’s what they did with the ten-year-old making his seasonal reappearance. In hindsight he perhaps lacked a little fitness; at least that’s how it looked to my eyes. At ten and with as many miles on the clock as he has at the top-level it may be catching up with him now but the old boy should have too much for this field. Second in this last year beaten in the shadow of the post – I tipped him – I am on again this year and have the Evens available on Thursday lunchtime.  My biggest concern is the fact the yard aint in great form.
