Ascot Racecourse to inspect ahead of the Clarence House Chase meeting

Champion Chase winner Energumene and Arkle victor Edwardstone were both declared today for the Grade One 2m1f LK Bennett Clarence House Chase due to be run at Ascot on Saturday. Unbeaten this season Amarillo Sky is also in to make it a trio going to post. They are holding an inspection at 4pm toady (Thursday) due to the fact the course is currently frozen in places. It hasn't really thawed out here at Triple G Towers in Essex for a couple of days so there has to be a concern is they will let the meeting go ahead.

Clerk of the course Chris Stickels told reporter this morning "If there isn't significant improvement through today, and with temperatures similarly below zero for the next two nights, there won't be any chance we'll be fit for racing by Saturday."
