Ante-post punt for the Juddmonte International at York and horse racing news Thursday 13th August

No bets for me Thursday, the Bookies will be upset as I couldn't tip a wheelbarrow these last few days! A day or two without a punt won't hurt, and all being well there are a few good bets to be had at the weekend. Those loses are only lent My Bookmaker.

Lake Lucerne a filly I have tipped a couple of times recently runs again at Salisbury today but she is definitely best watched at the moment having won at Chelmsford back in March she has been well beaten the last twice in the Musidora Stakes and a hot handicap at Goodwood.

Hamish, the ante-post favourite for the Ebor at York on Saturday week at their big meeting has been ruled out of the race. Fujaira prince now heads the market.

Talking of York, Ghaiyyath appears on track still for the Group One 1m2f Juddmonte International on day one of the Ebor Festival. It is of course a bit of a front-runners track and should suit his style and though he gets a mile-and-half there is a strong argument to suggest the ten furlong trip is his ideal. I have taken the plunge early as I think he will only get shorter and have the 5-4 ante-post. Of the possible opposition Japan couldn't get near him in the Eclipse and I see no reason to think Lord North could pass him if that horse shows up. Kameko looks likely to run in France this weekend and as such is unlikely to be at York but wouldn't scare me if he did run whilst this will be a very different test from the French Derby Mishriff won so Magical may turn out to be the biggest danger if she travels over from Ireland.
