A look back at Derby weekend and ahead to the week ahead

The weekend ended up being okay if not spectacular with Essential Quality winning the Belmont Stakes in the States and St Marks Basilica triumphing in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club over the channel.

Hurricane Lane ran a big race in the Derby to finish third and you had to smile about Adayar winning with Adam Kirby onboard. Jocked off John Leeper earlier in the week it just goes to show sometimes your name is on it. Also out in the States Summer Romance was a gallant second to stablemate Althiqa – I was on the wrong Appleby one again!

It is a case of the calm before the storm this week with a few Listed heats dotted here and there but it is really all about Royal Ascot just around the corner. All the updates can be found on the dedicated page: http://www.girdysgeegees.com/royal-ascot-2021

There is the chance of a bet or two later in the week so do check back, and of course the Royal Ascot page will be updated regularly as we head towards the big meeting.

Be lucky
