Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book One

It is day one of the Tattersalls October Sale and some big purchases are almost guaranteed. This auction remains Europe's flagship yearling sale, with huge sums of money being thrown around by the big names in the game. They have a catalogue of 552 lots listed for the three-day sale, with 184 lots in today's first session starting at 11am.

The big-name sires will be well-represented as you would expect, in fact in the first five lots we have yearlings by American Pharoah, Frankel and of course Galileo.

Due in the ring late on day one I think Lot 180 is one to watch. The yearling is a bay colt by Frankel out of Attraction; their previous mating having given us Elarqam who fetched 1,600,000 Guineas at the sale as a yearling back in 2016.

Another that caught my eye as a potential decent middle-distance type in the making is Lot 149 a bay filly by Galileo out of Alive Alive Oh consigned by Islanmore Stud, Ireland.

I will be keeping an eye on proceedings during the day if only to see if the two lots mentioned make the big bucks - perhaps I a have a future in the Thoroughbred buying game.

Be lucky
