Horse racing news and the week ahead Monday 29th June

So, what’s been happening and what do we have to look forward to?

Aidan O’Brien trained another Irish Derby winner with Santiago winning on Saturday, tipped on here I am glad to say as part of a winning weekend. Mickael Barzalona was bitten by Earthlight's work companion at Saint-Cloud on Sunday, if you haven’t seen the video the horse takes a clear disliking to the Frenchman and grabs quite a mouthful of his leg! Neither horse or rider are permanently damaged. And of course, Magical made a triumphant return to action as she added another Group One to her record winning the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

It’s a busy week with plenty of racing but of course it all builds to massive weekend starting with Saturday afternoon and the Derby and the Oaks on the same card at Epsom. They also host the Listed Surrey Stakes and Group Three Princess Elizabeth Stakes on the card. The Derby and Oaks meeting will be shown live on ITV with coverage starting at 1.25pm.

Don’t think Sunday will be a day of rest as we have the Group One Coral-Eclipse to look forward to at Sandown with potentially one of the best fields lining-up you will see anywhere! Sandown has a cracking support card with two Group 3s and two Listed races to enjoy plus Haydock as the G.2 Lancashire Oaks.

I don't have a load of bets planned early in the week, obviously a few are planned for the busy weekend, but as ever any bets I am having will be on here first. Be lucky
