Best bets for the horse racing at Newmarket Wednesday 24th October 2016

Nice little winner on Tuesday (the first bet of the week) and I fancy another one at HQ on Wednesday. The seven-furlong Willow Novice Stakes at Newmarket due off at 2.35 is a nice little race with some potentially very decent two-year-olds lining-up.

Owned by Khalid Abdullah and trained by John Gosden Gantier is a son of Frankel and a half-brother to a number of winners so it will be interesting to see what the market says about his chances on his debut run and is the cash comes for him. Interestingly he has already been gelded before setting foot on a racecourse so make of that what you will. Light And Dark for Godolphin, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, is none too shabbily bred himself, has a couple of winning half-siblings, and has the experience edge having finished fourth on debut over 1m here at HQ earlier this month. No disgrace there with Turgenev winning that heat and that colt being fancied by a few to take the G.1 Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes at the weekend. Both of these were also entered in the At The Races Ebf Maiden Stakes at Doncaster Friday but come here instead of heading north. My preference is for the Godolphin colt at 9-4 BPG overnight.

Be lucky
