It has been a frustrating September so far for me compounded by the current run I am on that consists of six bets: 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 3rd!
Best bet for the horse racing at Sandown Park
The race of interest to me on Wednesday is the 3.00 7the f Blandford Bloodstock Novice Stakes. It won’t surprise any regular reader that I have had a debutant from Moulton Paddocks under the tutelage of Charlie Appleby on my radar and Striking Star was entered in three races this week. A son of Dubawi and the first foal out of Lucida the chestnut colt has a lot to like about him on paper. The sire needs little introduction and the dam was a G.2 winner in her racing days for Godolphin whilst trained by Jim Bolger in Ireland, she is by Champion two-year-old and French Guineas and Derby winner Shamardal. The family have produced a number of winners, several 100+ rated, with a mile to a mile-and-a-quarter their optimum distance as they mature. Both his sire and dam were two-year-old winners, both actually winning on debut, and all being well this one can get off the mark first go as well. He is daft short really but I have had an eye out for him so I am on at the 11-8 with Hills overnight. Leadenhall is the obvious danger on breeding being a full-brother to two winners and half-brother to three others his dam Promising Lead and her family being decent producers for Juddmonte.
