Best bet for the horse racing at Newmarket and Kempton Wednesday 21st October

I have been keeping my eye on the entries of a few from the yard of Charlie Appleby as he had a horsebox or two’s worth entered-up for this week with a few that I have been following. I will be having a bet on four of them this Wednesday.  No prices are available at the time of writing so have a hunt around when they do chalk-up.

At HQ we have what is known as known as Two-Year-Old Day on Wednesday and any regular reader will know my theory about backing Godolphin young’uns at Newmarket.

At 2.10 they face 1m2f for the Rossdales Laboratories Maiden Stakes. Symbolic Power has been getting the idea in his two runs to date (3rd and 2nd) still showing signs of greenness when racing keenly at Chelmsford last time. He cost a cool 2,300,000 Guineas as a yearling so Godolphin will be hoping for some more payback yet from this Kingman colt. All being well he will settle better today and if he does should prove too strong for this line-up.

A winner for me already this season Act Of Wisdom goes in the 2.45 the British EBF Future Stayers Nursery again over 1m2f. Has top-weight unsurprisingly but he’s looked a progressive type and is certainly a well-bred colt. He’s only gone up 3lb for his win at Nottingham last time and is proven on the testing under hoof conditions over this trip meaning I am on again and felling confident.

Royal Touch was just touched-off on debut at Nottingham, I tipped him on here, and has a great chance of going in at the second attempt in the British EBF Future Stayers Novice Stakes at 3.55 over a mile. As I mentioned on his debut, he is a full-brother to winner Dubai Thunder and half-brother to several winners, including my old favourite the top-class Farhh and will surely be winning sooner rather than later. Get on for this. Hurricane Lane is a chestnut son of Frankel that had three entries this week and it is perhaps surprising the colt comes here to run against his stable mate. I think he will have to settle for minor honours.

There is a huge card at Kempton in the evening and the yard of Charlie Appleby has plenty entered there as well. The one I will be backing goes in the 7f Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at 6.15. Quintillus was tipped by me on debut but could manage only fourth despite market support. A Dubawi half-brother to several winners he is likely to improve significantly for the run and is another fancied to get off the mark at the second attempt.

Be lucky
