I said in a post on Monday that it's that time of year when we start to see a few late developing two-year-olds coming out and it's always worth keeping your notebook close to hand with autumn targets and 2025 in mind. A race that proves that point is the mile British EBF Peter Willett Future Stayers' Maiden Stakes at Goodwood this afternoon due off at 1.45. We have some potentially nice ones lining-up none more so than the Charlie Appleby trained Watching Stars. A chestnut son of Sea The Stars, who needs little introduction, he is the first foal out of Half Light a 7.5f-1m2f winner, including German G.3, who was also twice placed over a mile at Group One level. She is by Shamardal and out of an unraced half-sister to Prix Du Jockey Club winner Anaaba Blue so there is plenty to like on paper with this one. He looked in need of the run when fourth of twelve at Newmarket over seven-furlongs in August and you'd expect more now. I have a bit of the 4-1 best odds guaranteed that is about this morning. There's a few in here worth watching including Pantile Warrior and Mighty Boy.
